The Corporate Antichrist

The recent Supreme Court decision, allowing Corporations to funnel an unlimited amount of BRIBES directly into the coffers of their hand-picked candidates, sounded like the death knell for freedom in America. The hope that we could salvage our ‘government of the people’ is being ground to pieces under the jackboot of corporate power. If Benito Mussolini was correct in proclaiming that: "Fascism should more properly be called 'corporatism,' since it is the marriage of government and corporate power." - then John Roberts is the presiding judge who performed the wedding ceremony.

But the hijacking of democratic government is only an outward manifestation of a deeper spiritual problem. As Paul pointed out, “we fight against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The real enemies of democracy and freedom, of God and mankind, are the demonic spirits that once masqueraded as pagan gods but now have taken on the shape of Multinational Corporations.

Clement of Alexander (circa 150-213) proclaimed: "The verdict of the prophets is that the gods of all the nations are images of demons." Like the earlier pagan gods, corporations are both the inventions of human beings and demonic in character. Because any principality or power that we bow down to and serve, other than God, is demonic by definition. The pagan gods deceived and enslaved humanity, and kept us from knowing the true God. In the same way, modern corporations have deceived us into believing that they serve our interests, even though we are serving theirs.

If we were to worship a god carved out of a stick of wood, we would be worshiping a demon of our own creation. Any power attributed to our false god would be the power that it had to take away our freedom and deceive us spiritually.

In the same way, we’ve created thousands of Corporations out of wood/paper. And like pagan gods, we’ve created them in our image (by making them legal persons), made them potentially immortal, and given them power to direct our lives. So whether we bow down to Zeus and Hera, or allow Goldman-Sachs to hijack our government and make all the rules, is really beside the point. The point is that we are now doing their bidding. We were created to rule over God’s creation (Gen 1:26); but instead, we have created false gods/demons/corporations, to rule over us and direct our lives.

God is not a name, but a title. Whatever becomes the controlling passion of our life is our god. If our life is controlled and directed by greed, it was only natural and necessary that we would eventually bow down to the gods of greed = corporations. The principle that rules in our heart must eventually rule over our life.

America is a nation with a multitude of gods. The only difference is that our gods are listed on the stock exchange, which we follow with religious devotion. Wall Street has become Mt. Olympus, where our collective fate is in the hands of the corporate gods. Wherever the market decides we should go, we must follow. Whenever they are in financial trouble, we must bail them out. Whichever candidates they select, we have no other choice but to vote for. And whatever position they take on legislation, our government has no choice but to yield.

As David Korten pointed out in When Corporations Rule the World:

“In the quest for economic growth, free-market ideology has been embraced around the world with the fervor of a fundamentalist religious faith. Money is its sole measure of value…The economics profession serves as its priesthood. It champions values that demean the human spirit, it assumes an imaginary world divorced from reality, and it is restructuring our institutions of governance in ways that make our most difficult problems more difficult to resolve. Yet to question its doctrines has become virtual heresy, invoking risk and professional censure and damage to one’s career in most institutions of business, government and academia.”[1]

Multinational Corporations command countless millions of employees and contractors, while directing the lives of billions of consumers across the globe. They determine whether or not we get basic health care, whether we can buy a house or a car, and whether we will go to war. The power once attributed to the gods has been actualized in modern corporations. Their only purpose is to make money, and people are only the means to that end.

The confused message of the tea party movement is symptomatic of the moral confusion that reigns in America today. Folks have every right to be angry when their lives are no longer under their control, but unfortunately, they don't seem not to understand who/what is responsible. Democratic governments is based upon the Judeo-Christian principal that “all people are created equal, with certain unalienable rights.” Self government is the antidote for corporate rule. The problem isn’t that our government spends too much money; the problem is that the tax code, along with most of the money our government spends, are both geared towards serving corporate interests.

The problem isn’t with our government but within ourselves; our government is the reflection of our values. If human greed empowered the rule of corporations, then by establishing justice we could make them less powerful. Health Care Reform, insuring that every American has basic health care, would have been one small step in that direction. But it seems that the power of corporate interests is already so strong, and the confusion among the public so complete, that our government is powerless to act on our behalf.

I've had to deal with my own health issues the past few years, which is why I haven't have the time or energy to post on this blog. I know first hand how screwed-up the system really is. More time and energy is spent in just trying to deal with the economic repercussions of getting sick than with the illness itself. That's not the way it should be in America, and that's not the way it is in every other industrialized country in the world. Basic health care should be the basic right of every American, instead of punishing people for getting sick. Maybe if we had a president who was as good at making that case as he is at trying to prove he's bi-partisan they would have passed a bill months ago. But that's another story.

Stephen,

Very good post and I so agree with what you wrote. Corporations control this country and society is being manipulated to do their bidding. I for one will not wear anything with the logo of a company plastered in the front. Not a billboard for any company but the youth of today wear the logos with pride. We have allowed corporations to manipulate the youth into thinking it is a status symbol.

I just watched the movie "Wall Street" again where their motto is "Greed is Good." The golden calf (bull) is what they worship...and our society falls or rises on the stocks of the day...Reminds me of Moses coming down and all the people were worshipping the golden calf. Money is the God of this society. Trust in it and worship it...it will bring you all kinds of worldly possessions. Jesus said it best..you can not serve two masters. God or Mammoth. We have been give free choice and the majority of this consumer society has chosen money.

In an interview published today with Bloomberg Business Week, the president struck a different not from the outrage express a week ago by him on the recent bonuses.

Asked about the $17 million bonus given to Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase & Co., and the $9 million bonuses going to Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of the Goldman Sachs Group Inc. CEO, the president said, “I know both those guys; they are very savvy businessmen. I, like most of the American people, don’t begrudge people success or wealth. That is part of the free-market system.”

Also Obama needed to take more leadership on the whole health care issue and he failed because of his wanting by-bipartisan. It takes two sides to give for that to work. Republicans were never going to give it to him and he lost an opportunity. Health care is a right and he so stated that during the campaign but he was not willing to take leadership on it and push it through. Leadership will vote for and fund war but the people of this country are held hostage by the greedy health care industry where illness is a profit industry.

We will be judged in this country by how we treat the least among us. This society willing gives over their freedom to the corp interests.

Corporations are collectives, and as such are a valuable way to learn to cooperate as a group. We are derived from a collective...God. We will return to that collective in the very near future. What we experience now is all the pitfalls and weaknesses of collectives that are not based on love, but greed. Be glad we get to see this flaw so fully developed so that we can steer the other way. We will still need to find the positive aspects of corporations after all this BS is over, as we cannot advance so long as we have not solved the problems. Corporations are a means for the average man to face their inclinations to abuse power, which formally was only something kings and despots could explore. Those same people that deplored the ways of the tyrant are now faced with their own despotic tendencies, and are discovering that they are just as weak as those they despised in other lifetimes. The point of all the current changes is to separate the true believers from the hypocrites, because now we are all faced with alignment with those that represent our own personal level of attainment. This process takes time, so that everyone has a good chance to make up their mind one way or another, and also to give the opportunity for realignment. This is what is meant by 'Every eye shall see, and every ear shall hear'.

My dearest brother Stephen, I am so delighted to see you post again. I for one have truly missed your
Excellent , insightful and informative posting. You have been a source of inspiration to me. The Corporate world has filled the whole earth and is thus the system of the beast. If you do not pay homage to it you will not eat. It has enslaved mankind across the globe but its days are numbered.
I have so much I could say, but I will save it for latter. I hope and pray you remain in health and you look to our Lord as He is our healer

Stephan,
Glad you deleted those comments that had nothing to do with your message. I believe that the links could even have viruses on them...

Hoping everyone is doing good.

Pegaly,
Corporations are in it for the exploitation of mankind for greed. They ruin the environment and try to cover up the pollution and damage until some decide to take them on and expose the damage done to humans and the environment. There has to be a better way. To live in harmony with the environment. God gave us a paradise and through the ages we have not been wise in taking care of the earth.

Peace and love...

Obama passed healthcare and no one has a comment? Wow. Can't we celebrate when good things happen, or do we have to only be concerned with the negative? Corporate America sure got a slap in the face, didn't they? Not that the fight is over, not by a long shot, but I feel fortunate to live in times like these. The days of the dominion of darkness seem to be numbered!

Interesting that the repubs are now calling for "calm" among their constitutents after ramping up the fear (death panels, free abortion paid for with tax dollars, minorities and immigrants taking over the country). What hippocrites!! They activate the fight or flight reptilian brain and then try to distance themselves when the monster is unleashed. Meanwhile, Glen Beck accuses Jim Wallis and Sojourners of being communists and questions their commitment to Christ. They are setting themselves up for a final fall. Obama is winning, he is the catalyst for their downfall. As long as he continues on the course he is on, he will be successful. Now, we need to come together as a nation and stop dvididing ourselves based on fear. The economy of the last 20 years is not coming back, and the American Empire is transforming itself. Deal with it, because things are going to get rough, and we are going to need to reahc out to our communities for assistance. And be happy!! Rejoice, God may have more in store for America than we think.

Whats there to celebrate? The insurance companys got a sweet deal & the rest of us get screwed. The rich get richer the poor get a bone tossed their way & the rest of us are left to pay the price.

They tell you we are passing a health care bill & you celebrate with out knowing the 1st thing about it. Talk about blind
support.
Corporate America won again, you just don't know it yet.

I agree with you that corporations have totally messed up their social privileges, and have turned an opportunity to be a blessing into a curse. The word corporation is derived from the word for 'body' or a being with a common purpose. That purpose could just as easily be a benign one as a corrupt one. The profit motive is blind, and is the real culprit in this when it is the only driving force behind their existence.

David

Agree also, Obama has a long term strategy that the dumb ones don't see fortunately. By the time the medical takes effect in a few years there will have been time to see what loopholes the insurers will try and exploit, and time enough to make some last minute changes to counter that. What we have at present is just a skeleton that can be fleshed out over time, but without that there would be nothing to work on and improve. At first it will be a boon to insurers, but that can be controlled later once things get rolling. At least there is something to work with, even though it has defects. The rupublicans are on their way out, as they are the flesh arm of the hidden 4th dimensional dark overlords, and that whole mess is being swept away.

Just thought I might elaborate a little on the medical issue...

Currently I live in Holland because my daughter goes to school here, but we are dual citizens of the Netherlands and the US. I have lived in the US since 1960, so I know what I am talking about when I speak about issues in the US. I have watched the US tumble down a hill for about 50 years, starting with the assasination of JFK. During the same period, I would come back to Holland every year to visit, so I was able to watch as things progressed here as well. Frankly a liberal in the US would be considered a conservative over here.

After WWII, the government here had little choice but to be the insurer for medical coverage, and so a kind of socialized system was put in place that everyone fell under. This system was greatly abused by the public who would run to a doctor for the tiniest problem, so they wouldn't have to pay for their own bandaids and aspirins. Since it was the government that ran it, no-one could be denied assistance for any reason. They quickly realised that although medicine is a profession, insurance is a business, one they wanted to get out of because an epidemic or catastrophy could wipe out the entire state. They decided to privatize it, and let insurance companies handle the money aspect. To be eligible for this opportunity, insurers had to agree to observe all the safeguards and conditions that the government had been operating under, so that sickness could not be exploited purely for profit. Maximum rates for basic coverage were set by law, as were the fees doctors could charge for routine procedures. One company was allowed to operate a 'public option' type of coverage, which is a rock bottom premium set in stone by law. Everyone has to be insured, or they will be fined. Everyone therefore has insurance. The rates are the same for all ages, I am 63 and I pay EU100/month for full coverage. So does a 25 year old. My daughter is free until the age of 22. Poor people get financial assistance with their premiums, and everyone over 65 is also covered for free. Since everyone pays the same, no-one ever complains about unfairness.

I have had to be hospitalized once here, and the hospitals are impeccable, as are the doctor's offices, so there is no lack of money in the system. To avoid fraud, doctors can only have a certain number of patients, and he gets paid a small amount for each one, so he doesn't go broke if no-one gets sick.

Since going to a doctor is not anything to worry about financially, people go whenever they need to, so people look generally very healthy here. Emergency rooms are deserted, and only need to deal with real emergencies like accidents etc.

When Dutch people look at the US they just shake their heads and mutter that they don't know what they are missing. Medical care is a basic shared responsibility, since anyone can get sick at any moment, and at any age.

I voted for Obama, and I am not sorry I did, he will save Americans from their own stupidity.

BTW read my other blog:
