It doesn’t matter how you say it. How you’re saying it has nothing to do with it. It’s about finding scapegoats to blame for their own failed agenda. The more they fail the more they will blame you, me and everyone else that doesn’t goosestep along with them. The more they fail, the more they will keep grabbing power and taking away our rights and stealing elections because that’s all they have left.
With fascists it is ALWAYS about bullying people any way they can, and what they are best at is questioning other people’s patriotism. How good of an American you are has nothing to do with it. This is basically a gang of cowards and draft dodgers who slander real Americans on basic principal - veterans like Kerry, Cleland and Murtha. That’s always been Carl Rove’s political strategy – to attack where they are weakest. Since we have cowards in leadership positions with about 57 draft deferments between them, they must attack and slander the records of anyone who actually did serve, in order to take the spotlight off their cowardly record and make themselves seem more patriotic by comparison. That has always be their strategy.
The same thing with Iraq: The Bush regime is a toilet bowl of degenerate gangsters who couldn’t care less about the American people, the people of Iraq or the soldiers who are dying to make them richer. So naturally they must question everyone else’s patriotism, so that most Americans will never come to the point of accepting the fact they are the biggest rat traitors of all time. It’s a variation on the big lie technique – the more aggressive and shameless they are at covering up the truth, the fewer Americans who would even want to consider the fact that their leaders could be so evil. Hitler said most people want to believe their leaders are basically decent men, so that the more shameless they are at lying to everyone, the more difficult it is for most people to accept what’s really going on. It’s easier to pretend that Bush is a well meaning boob than the antichrist he really is.
The fact is that we are in Iraq for one basic reason: an insatiable greed. It had nothing to do with WMD’s, it obviously has nothing to do with terrorism – it’s only made that worse – and it has even less to do with democracy, which will never happen, and which they despise anyway. But most Americans still can’t being themselves to accept the fact that Bush would kill off thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, basically only to make his corrupt corporate cronies fabulously wealthy. So instead we all pretend he’s a well-intentioned fool who thought he could democratize Iraq, when actually he’s a degenerate gangster who’s already gotten everything he ever wanted out of Iraq and more – including a second term.
Make no mistake about it, these people will do everything in their power to destroy this country. It is only after they have completely destroyed America and taken the country down with them, that we may finally be rid of them. Remember what happened in Nazi Germany. The Nazis were another group of fascists who couldn’t admit they were wrong. Another party of corrupt, swaggering militarists who took their country down with them. They were the biggest traitors that Germany ever had and the worst thing that ever happened to that country, and yet they called absolutely everyone who disagreed with them traitor. And just like with Bush and his Republican sheep – their highest allegiance is not to God or for the well-being of the country, but to their own political agenda, for which they will sacrifice and drag down everything else.
I was listening to an interview with John Dean recently on the Randi Rhodes show. He has just written a book called “Conservatives Without a Conscience”. Dean was planning to collaborate on the book with Barry Goldwater, the so-called father of modern conservatism, though he died before that could happen. It’s basically all about how a group of political sociopaths – social conservatives (the religious right) and neocoservatives (the empire-building militarists) - have hijacked American conservatism and taken over the Republican party. In my own book, Is Bush the Antichrist? I outline the three Satanic forces behind Bush’s rise to power, which include the apostate religious right, the militarists, and also corporations, the demonic reincarnation of ancient pagan gods.
But whatever you think of Dean’s book or my book and how we should categorize or think about the evil forces behind the current administration, there is another aspect that Dean also touched upon in the interview. The fact that there is about 1/3 of the American public today that has already become so radicalized and corrupt, that there is absolutely nothing you can ever say to them – no facts or reason or logic or truth – that could ever change their mind. And that unfortunately, these are the very people who are driving American politics today.
They don’t care if Bush is leading us into WWIII. They don’t care if he’s tapping our phones without a warrant, reading our email without a valid reason or legal right, invading our financial records on a whim, imprisoning Americans without any right to a lawyer or trial or habeas corpus. Bush could declare marshall law tomorrow, and dump our 230 year experiment in the Potomac, and they would be right behind him. They don’t care about the Constitution. They don’t care about the truth. All they care about is their political agenda, and they’ll tell any lie, slander anyone, and violate any law they like in order to achieve their goals. They can’t be reasoned with and they can’t feel any shame. They are completely consumed and driven by the fear and anger manifested in their own inflexable, uncompromising, infallable political agenda. They are like political reptiles.
Psychologists describe the human brain as basically the end result of two basic stages of evolution. The older, reptile brain is not a reasoning or thinking brain. It is a brain entirely driven by impulse and two basic emotions – fear and anger – fight or flight. The higher, or mammalian brain is where all the thinking and reasoning go on. It is where love finally gained a spiritual foothold, and where morality and shame entered in.
For most of us, there is an ongoing battle going on between fear and love. There is always the danger of becoming trapped in our fear and rage – in our reptile brain. Jesus always warned us not to be afraid, and not to be driven by fear. "let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." John tells us how (1Jo 4:18) “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear” FDR told us that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
So we have this constant battle going on between love and fear, between reason and rage. And this is true in our politics and religion as well. Many people in America have lost the battle between fear and reason, and consequently their political views are completely grounded in their reptile brain – in their fear, their hatred and their rage. For that reason, trying to argue or reason with them is like speaking a foreign language. You cannot reason with people whose political agenda is grounded in fear. It’s like trying to put out a raging fire by reading poetry.
More than any administration in history, the puppeteers in the White House have used fear to justify absolutely everything that they do. Their political MO is always to appeal to and manipulate what is worst in us. The only president who was even remotely like Bush is Nixon, who also said "People react to fear, not love—they don't teach that in Sunday School, but it's true." At least it was true for Nixon. Nixon used the fear and paranoia of the Cold War to very effectively advance his own career, especially at the very beginning.
From politically motivated terror alerts to fear laden trigger words and talking points – the Republican mafia has used and abused the American public as if we were saps who had to keep paying them protection money in order to stay alive, or like rats in some lab experiment calculated to measure the motivational effect of terror. And unfortunately, there is at least 1/3 of Americans on the extreme right who have completely lost the battle with their reptile brain, at least insofar as their political views are concerned. They are now entirely motivated by fear – which is to say, they are completely controlled by a corrupt and evil administration that uses fear as the only logic for everything it does – for every law it tramples down, every child it murders, every form or torture it invents and every lie it tells – fear is always the reason, 9-11 is always invoked, and terror is always the emotion they aim for.
As long as the terrorists in Washington completely control that 1/3 of the public whose limited lizard brains are driving American politics, they will feel like they can get away with anything. The gangsters in the White House are determined to ramp up the politics of fear between now and the November elections in order to drive the reptiles to the polls. They will also do their best to appeal to their racist rage at hispanic immigrants, as well as their homophobic hatred for gays and lesbians, because they know that's the only way to reason with a reptile brain. The fact that it turns off most of us is like an added bonus, because if less than half of all eligible American voters ultimately vote, they will likely succeed. Unless the rest of us – those of us who haven’t gone over to the darker side of our cranial anatomy – find the courage to mobilize and stand up to them.
Not to reason or argue with them – because they can’t be reasoned with and political arguments are pointless. But just as with the lizards and snakes out in the wild, we must turn over their rocks and expose them for what they are. Their leaders must be dragged out of their fetid upper-class tax-cut dens, and dragged out to cook in the scorching sunlight of grand jury investigations, Congressional inquires and mushrooming civil suits. They must be hounded like any other crime family, and investigated incessantly, until they are finally stripped of all their worldly possessions and put into cages like de-fanged rattlesnakes, where they can no longer do us any harm.
